What is the Arrowsmith Program?

Barbara Arrowsmith-Young

Arrowsmith Program Founder

The Arrowsmith Program is based on the application of neuroscience research and the premise that it is possible to address a range of specific learning difficulties by identifying and strengthening the cognitive functions that underlie learning.

The goal of the Arrowsmith Program is to strengthen learning capacities rather than teach ways to compensate for specific learning difficulties. The Arrowsmith Program has been supporting children, teens and adults with learning difficulties to address their challenges and achieve academic, personal, and professional success since 1978. The cognitive areas that require strengthening are identified via the testing and a specialised individualised program is designed based on the testing results.

The Arrowsmith Program aims to help children, teens and adults become more efficient, confident and self-directed learners in the classroom, and more successful in the workplace, which in turn improves one’s overall well-being.

Each program is specifically tailored to ensure the best possible cognitive gains for each individual. A full-time program ranges, dependent on the testing results, from 2-4 years and requires a commitment of 2.5-3 hours per day 5 days a week. Whilst The Arrowsmith Program strengthens cognitive capacities it is also important to recognise that some individuals may need additional learning support to bridge any gaps in their academic skill sets.
